Would you choose to wait 7 minutes or 7 hours......that is what emergency patients and the medical team used to face: up to a 7 hour time lapse between a patients arrival and the time it took making phone calls, setting up a CT at another hospital, arranging the ambulance (meaning a possible longer wait for the next patient requiring an ambulance), getting the CT, treatment action and the list goes on....
Not the ideal patient experience or possible health outcome....
Campbellford Memorial Hospital needed a CT Scanner and we could not afford to wait!
On January 19, 2010, our CT Scanner went “Live”, revolutionizing the way the medical team at Campbellford Memorial Hospital treats patients in need! And the CT is saving lives now!
With good planning, the CT was actually installed ONE YEAR earlier than anticipated, meaning better health outcomes for patients now. The other benefit has been the cascading savings to the hospital – which finished the fiscal year with a small operating surplus.
There is still some fundraising to go –that is where The Other Canvas comes in: Thanks to the generosity of artists from our region, province and across Canada who put their talent to work to create a unique set of canvases to be auctioned in support of the life-saving CT Campaign at Campbellford Memorial Hospital!
